Jenny really hates weddings, this one has been such a mass of arguments and "if-it-can-go-wrong-it-will" kind of wedding that she is really not surprised when in the middle of the ceremony The Boss is shot! As Caitlyn is swearing to Stacy she has nothing to do with the shooting, everyone swarms over The Boss to make sure he isn't dead. The Boss wore a bulletproof vest to his wedding so he is fine. Sitting up to comfort his almost bride and then with perfect "Boss" attitude starts to give orders to everyone so the wedding can continue; it's Jenny job to find the minister. To her surprise the minister is trying to talk the DROP DEAD GORGEOUS assassin to drop his gun in the men's room. With a "nothing surprises me" attitude, I mean really where else would you find the assassin, Jenny takes the gun-ok, so the assassin "lets" her take his gun and she marches him to The Boss.

On this wacky and bizarre day, Jenny is not in the least surprised when Kevin Stone turns out to be a good guy spy left out in the cold when his covert government agency closed it's doors in the last budget cut. The governments attention to detail has always left something to be desired. Since The Boss knows about the organization that Kevin was sent to infiltrate, he takes Kevin under his wing with the intent of sending him back undercover. This time however, he'll need a really good reason to get back inside, as he has not completed his assignment which was in reality to kill the bride. As Jenny has all day long, she steps up and offers assistance, this time to be the fake hostage with information to get Kevin back inside to bring the bad guys down. Of course, Jenny's offer has nothing to do with how gorgeous Kevin is, no, of course not.

Ms. Davidson, author of the widely popular Undead series, has started a new and just as funny series that began with HELLO GORGEOUS. DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, the second book in the Gorgeous universe is a stand alone book, however, as Ms. Davidson brilliantly explains in her Author's Note, you can read just this book, but it certainly would help with the small details if you read them in order. I read the first book in the Gorgeous universe and have to agree with Ms. Davidson, the characters could get a little confusing without reading the first book. Jenny as the normally unnoticed assistant hairdresser/receptionist comes out shining like a diamond in the rough. Just as all assistants tend to do, she pays attention to the small details and makes the plans of the upper echelon work. Kevin, a burnt out spy, sees in Jenny what most don't pay attention to, her brilliant mind, her need to be involved and her ability to see the alternative option. DROP DEAD GORGEOUS is a classic Mary Janice Davidson book, one that will make you laugh out loud and have you engrossed in the book to the exclusion of the rest of the world.
