Preparing for a wedding even under the best of circumstances is extremely stressful but for Christine Graham, it’s unbearable. She’s tried extremely hard to get along with Gray’s mother who’s been dubbed ‘Priss’ for a very good reason. Christine’s tolerated the constant put-downs and superior attitude up to this point. She’s finally reached the breaking point. Seconds before she’s due to walk down the aisle in the pretentious wedding gown Priss selected, Christine decides that she’s had ENOUGH and walks out on her own wedding.
Grayson ‘Gray’ Rothschild has no idea about the strong arm-tactics and callous treatment Christine’s received from his socialite mother and her ‘inner circle.’ All he knows is he was on the verge of marrying the woman he loves in a lavish society wedding and for some reason she bolted. He’s determined to uncover the truth behind her leaving him at the altar.
After leaving her would-be wedding, Christine makes the decision to spend the night at the one place nobody would look for her – the hotel room where she was supposed to spend the first night as Gray’s wife. Instead she’s there alone indulging in some much needed ‘me’ time while she ponders her circumstances and wonders how Gray took the news.
Christine was wrong in her assumption that no one would look for her at the hotel. The man who enters the room and indulges her in conversation and listens to her tale of woe is none other than Gray’s best friend Jamie. Christine hadn’t met him before but she does need a shoulder to cry on and someone who won’t judge her as lacking. What she doesn’t know is that after she left the would-be wedding Gray and Jamie devised a plan of attack. Gray needs to know if it’s him that sent her running or something else – and Jamie is just the man to aid him in uncovering the truth. Besides, he knows just how passionate Christine is and once he hears what happened to make her back out of the wedding… well, a little ‘forgive me’ gift of one night of anything goes sex with him and Jamie could be just the thing to relieve all of their tension.
Nicole Austin’s ENOUGH is one book where you can literally feel the tension as soon as the story starts and it doesn’t let up until the very end. Gray’s mother is the perfect villain – you just love to hate her and wonder how on earth Christine could have tolerated her superior attitude for as long as she did. Christine and Gray obviously love each other and you can’t help but root for them to have the happily ever after they deserve – despite the Priss.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Nicole Austin’s next release – RESTLESS. It’ll have Christine’s friend, Rachel, and Jamie’s story. After reading the end of this story I can barely wait!
