Lindsay De Luca is a math teacher at the local middle school. Secretly she has been writing stories in hopes of being published one day. With her debut romance novel coming out this summer, Lindsay has to find a way to tell her family before its release. She didn't tell them until she was sure her book would be published because she knew they would try to interfere with their opinions. Now Lindsay is dating her high school crush, Will Sweet, and has just realized that some of her lead character's attributes are related to how she feels about her true life cowboy boyfriend. She doesn't know if he will accept the similarities as good or bad.

Will Sweet is a real life cowboy who works with his family at their ranch. He is a love them and leave them kind of guy with a reputation to match. After his high school sweetheart was killed in an accident that he blames himself for, he knows he can never commit to any woman, so he plays the field. Dating Lindsay has made him realize that his feelings for her are too strong and he can't let that happen. Lindsay is learning about his life as a cowboy and the Sweetheart Ranch he loves. She is getting too close so Will knows he has to break it off but Lindsay beats him to it. This makes him think more about single life and whether he wants to try to let the walls around his heart disappear for good.

This story is one of families and their problems and trying to put tragedies of the past to rest. Throw in the local widows from the Three Widows Boardinghouse and you are in for some hilarious schemes and high jinks when one of them runs against the matriarch of the Sweet family for head of the Historical Society. This book will make you laugh, cry and sigh for all the local people who want happiness in their lives in Valentine Valley. I have loved reading all of their stories and am sad to be leaving the valley behind in this final book of the series. I know the next series written by Emma Cane will be just as interesting. I give this novel 5 Blue Ribbons on Romance Junkies' website because I am one person who would love to be included as a resident of Valentine Valley with its ambiance and history.
