Bette Robinson is stunned when her best friend, Penelope, announces her engagement to a man that Bette feels is not good enough for her. She struggles to fake her elation, but inside she is miserable. Adding to her misery is having to miss her weekly dinner with her beloved uncle to attend the engagement party, but spends most of it outside, since the bouncer refuses to allow her in the trendy club.

Her lackluster career is also taking a toll on Bette. She never planned to dedicate her life to the world of cooperate finance, but that is what she finds herself doing. The company policy of not allowing employees to leave their desk during their sixteen-hour day, even to pick up their lunch, along with an idiotic boss sends her over the edge and she impulsively quits. Without a job to fall back on she lingers unemployed, until her uncle pulls some strings and gets her a job with the owner of a prestigious public relations firm.

Bette soon finds herself mixing in with the elite 'red carpet' crowd, where everyone seems to be focusing on the superficial. The bright side is she no longer has to wait in line at clubs, but she soon finds out that her new job may take more of a toll on her than her previous one.

EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING is a delight to read. Every page was engaging and captivating. The character Bette Robinson could easily be someone you would hang out with. With characters that feel alive and vibrant, Lauren Weisberger has written another witty novel. EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING has the feel of gossiping with your friends, but with the heart and strength that puts it a class above the rest.

I plan to rush out and devour anything Lauren Weisberger writes. I am just hoping it's another book, rather than a shopping list. After reading THE DEVIL WORE PRADA and EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING it is obvious that Ms. Weisberger is going to a long successful career ahead of her.
