The last thing Cassie Munroe wants to do is attend her brother Brian's wedding. Recently jilted two days before her own wedding, witnessing her brother pledge his undying love to his fiancée isn't her idea of a good time. Add to that the fact that her car breaks down on the way to the rehearsal dinner, not to mention that she enters the wrong banquet room only to run into the man that stood her up the night of her high school homecoming dance, and you've spelled disaster.

She'd once befriended Jake Griffin, until he'd broken her heart and dropped off the face of the earth. Running into him here, now, when she is lonely and vulnerable, is definitely not a good thing. The fact that she needs a date to Brian's wedding, topped off with a few too many margaritas, adds more trouble to the mix.

But she couldn't resist Jake then, and she's unable to resist him now. A wild night of passion ensues, but Cassie's able to walk away; the same way Jake walked away that night so long ago. They say bad pennies always turn up though, and of course Jake does. It just so happens that he's the son of J.T. Anderson, the man that Cassie goes to work for. The man who's guesthouse she's currently residing in when Jake comes home, crawling into a bed that's supposed to be empty.

The story could end there, but of course it doesn't. Because Cassie's pregnant, which in this case isn't a good thing. Because Jake's a drifter, a calf-roper on the rodeo circuit, and he doesn't do home and hearth. Yet he asks Cassie to marry him anyway, for the sake of his unborn child, whom he vows will never grow up without a father the way he himself had.

But Cassie wants more than obligation. She wants Jake to love her as much as she's come to love him. She wants a family, a home, and a life with the man that she's wanted for her own for a very long time. Can this mom-to-be and the wrangler settle their differences in time for the arrival of their child? Can Jake forgive J.T. for the sins of the past, before it's too late for all of them?

EXPECTING THE COWBOY'S BABY is a fun quick read, filled with passion and some great dialogue. Ms. Sands makes her characters come alive in the pages of this book, and I can guarantee that some of the scenes will have you laughing out loud. Twists and turns in the plot keep the story moving, and the happily-ever-after at the end, although expected, still has a few surprises.
