Marcy and Sam divorced when he accused her of being unfaithful and becoming pregnant with someone else’s child. Harsh words and his lack of telling the truth caused their marriage to break up.
Sam believed he was one hundred percent sterile. Marcy was shocked that he’d asked for a DNA test. She’d been with no one else. In the end, she lost the baby and her love.
In the last five years, Marcy’s devoted her life to prosecuting bad guys. Her sex life is active but not fulfilled.
An invitation to an old friend’s wedding and the hurricane that almost ruins everything sets the stage for a reunion with Sam that she won’t soon forget.
The hurricane forces everyone off the island. When Sam realizes Marcy is missing, he stays to find her. When he finds her, she’s huddled inside her cabin, scared out of her wits.
More than the hurricane rages as these two former lovers come together again. But will it last?
You can always count on Ann Jacobs to give you an awesome read that keeps you glued to the pages until you reach the end. By that point you’re completely out of breath. EYE OF THE STORM is no exception. The title aptly describes the forces of nature at work when Sam reaches Marcy and goes out of his way to prove he still loves her while a hurricane rages outside.
I wanted to cry at the love for one another and the baby they lost. Sometimes these things can’t be repaired. You’ll want to ‘shake some sense’ into both of them and yell at them for their stubbornness. The secondary characters in this story play an integral part in Sam and Marcy’s story and it’s good to be re-acquainted with them, too.
You may have read EYE OF THE STORM in the STORM WARNINGS anthology Ellora’s Cave released about six years ago. You’ll definitely want to re-read it.
