Detective Evan Cerelli has lost his wife and the only woman he ever loved to a horrific car accident. He knows he was never home enough and he can’t help feeling that he should have been able to protect Sherri. Overwhelmed with guilt and grief, Evan finds himself retreating from the world. Only his love for his children and the knowledge that they need him keeps him from going over the edge.

Former Homicide Detective Matt Haight has very little to look forward to. Being a cop was Matt’s whole life—his only real love. First the loss of his partner and then the loss of his job have devastated him.  Matt is just going through the motions and taking solace where he can find it, usually in a pitcher of beer.

When Evan and Matt meet each recognizes and understands the wounds and pain the other man suffers. This connection soon turns into a strong friendship. However what will happen when friendship turns into love?

I have to admit when I first started reading this novel I was a bit skeptical. I wasn’t sure that two straight men falling in love with one another could be believable. To my surprise and pleasure not only are Evan and Matt believable as a couple I found myself becoming very invested in their story.

FAITH AND FIDELITY is filled with affecting descriptions and strong emotion. The reader feels what Matt and Evan are feeling, their pain and their joy. I came to care about not only about the heroes but about all the characters in this story. Both of these men are filled with pain and grief and it is their love for one another that helps them to heal. Tere Michaels has written a beautiful and touching story. I highly recommend it.
