Fast Women

Gabe McKenna is in a perpetually bad mood.  His detective agency is wasting time on frivolous cases, his partner has decided he’s through following cheating spouses, his former secretary has stolen the cleaning service money, and his ex-wife just broke up with him – again.  When an important client asks him for a favor, he never guesses that it will be to hire the woman he just interviewed as his new secretary.  Nell is the last person he would normally hire.  She seems to be less concerned with secretarial duties than destroying the furniture and wanting to change everything else!

As Nell butts heads with Gabe over his outdated practice, she is invigorated and begins to gain back some of her old confidence.  When a woman turns up murdered, Nell must wade through decades of history, both the firm’s and her own family’s, to help Gabe solve the crime.  As they get closer to uncovering the truth, Nell and Gabe get closer to each other as well.  But can they solve the mystery without destroying their future?

FAST WOMEN is a great quick summer read.  It’s full of fun characters that made me laugh out loud with a great mystery that kept me guessing until the end.  The tension between Gabe and Nell is palpable and exciting, and the scenes between the two are super steamy.  No one writes contemporary romance better than Jennifer Crusie, and I am so excited that this has been reprinted for a new audience!
