Bess Carson moved to Colorado to escape New York. Not only does she want to escape her past, but she also wants, no needs, to get away from her father. After what happened to her she has no use whatsoever to have men in her life. In Colorado she has the freedom to write in peace. She writes bestselling romance novels to her father's consternation, since he wants her to work in their family business.

Geoffrey Barrett is a fellow author she met on an authors website. He befriends her, they seem to think on the same wavelength, and Bess feels safe in their friendship since he lives all the way in Tasmania. He threatens her feeling of security when he suggests that she come to Tasmania to co-author a book with him. She is determined not to go, she likes things the way they are.

Her father changes her mind in a hurry when he attempts to manipulate her into a personal relationship with a business contact of his. Since she knows how stubborn her father can be from past experience, she decides on the spur of the moment to escape to Tasmania. Anything has to be better than what her father has planned!

Geoffrey is everything, and more, than she expected, or wanted him to be. She doesn't want to like, or be attracted to him, but she is. And he seems determined to do whatever it takes to make her a part of his life. They aren't prepared for the drastic steps Bess's father is willing to take to get his way. Bess feels cornered, pursued from all angles, and things come to a head forcing her to come to terms with herself and her life. Will love be strong enough to conquer all?

FINDING BESS is an awesome story of life's struggle,  fatherly manipulation and love. I started reading this book, and the next thing I knew I was at the end! I was so completely absorbed me into the life of Bess and her adventures that I totally lost track of time. The story line was exciting and kept me guessing until the end. I had not read Victoria Gordon's books before, but after this one, I definitely plan to remedy that - and soon.
