Hailey Lane is a flight attendant on a mission. Her current job assignment has been cancelled and she couldn’t be happier since it is her birthday. Rushing home to be with the man she loves and lives with, she can’t wait to see him because she just knows he is going to propose. Her hopes and dreams come crashing to a halt when Hailey walks into her bedroom and sees her man being serviced extremely erotically by another. Unable to watch a minute longer, Hailey immediately grabs her stuff and swiftly escapes the apartment.
Waking up with a hangover, Hailey knows one thing is for certain. She needs a place to stay and she needs support, which she gets tenfold. Her friends are there for her, and once the vodka, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, Thai food, and cigars have been engulfed, Hailey comes up with a plan to get over her hurt. There’s nothing better than free flight passes and layovers to exotic places to mend her trampled heart. Who knows what will happen? She might even find the man for her.
Usually not a fan of chick lit, I hesitated to open FLY ME TO THE MOON. However, as I began to read, I easily pictured the character of Hailey in my mind; sparkly, friendly, and just plain fun. I quickly found myself thoroughly amused at her antics and wincing when those same antics got her into trouble.
FLY ME TO THE MOON is Hailey’s evolution from a somewhat naïve woman into a woman of the world who knows what she wants and is willing to do what she needs to do in order to achieve her desires. Using laugh-out-loud humor and realistic everyday situations, Alyson Noel produces a fun journey of self-discovery that shouldn’t be missed. You will find yourself giggling as you root for Hailey to land the man of her dreams as well as the life that she wants.
I found FLY ME TO THE MOON to be an enormously engaging read and am looking forward to exploring any future offerings from Alyson Noel.
