Ryan Putnam returns home to The Good Fortune ranch because he doesn’t have anywhere else to go. He lost his teaching job because of budget cuts and his lover of eight years suddenly decided that he and Ryan want different things and threw him out of their apartment. Ryan’s whole life seems to be falling apart and the last thing he expects is to be attracted to his brother’s new ranch hand.
Teo Mendez is the exact opposite of his former lover John. There is something about his intense yet surprisingly soft spoken manner that appeals immensely to Ryan. He is also a devoted father and Ryan has always wanted a family. Ryan knows that falling for a straight widower can only lead to disaster but he is about to learn that he shouldn’t take situations at face value and people aren’t always what they seem.
Jamie Craig always seems to write heroes that I can’t resist and Teo is no exception. I instantly fell in love with him. He is a strong alpha male who isn’t afraid to let his gentler side show. The secondary characters are also very well drawn. Teo’s son Antonio is a lot of fun and Ryan’s interactions with him are very endearing. These two cowboys and their relationship feel very real to me. FORTUNE’S RETURN is definitely a keeper!
