GETTING IT RIGHT by Jane Kent is a funny, erotic, and suspenseful story. Portia Juliet, or PJ as family and friends call her, is a single woman living in Ontario, Canada where she runs a successful bookstore/tearoom in a renovated Victorian building.  She lives in one of two apartments above the store.  She is coming off a bad break-up with a guy who ended up marrying her former best friend. She’s sworn off men, but is extremely attracted to Sebastian.  Sebastian is a distraction she does not want or need especially considering he was gay.  She did not stand a chance with him but she could not help her fantasies.  Of course, the fact that he is a jerk helps her to fight her attraction to him.  They can never seem to have a pleasant encounter because he is always so gruff and rude to her.  She only wants to collect her rent check and leave him alone for the rest of the month.  She is close to her parents and her brother, who live three thousand miles away in British Columbia.  The holidays are coming up and PJ is lonely and missing her family.  Would she be able to get along with Sebastian, who is alone as well, and have a nice holiday for two?

Sebastian St. John cannot believe his luck.  Romeo Benedick is going to die for sticking him in such close proximity to his too hot little sister.  Sebastian is staying in PJ’s building as a favor to her brother Romeo, who is an investigative reporter with a string of successful true crime stories.  Romeo’s latest story has gotten the attention of some dangerous people, so he sends Sebastian undercover to PJ’s, to look out for her.  Sebastian did not know that Romeo was going to tell her he was gay.  He is so attracted to her he cannot think straight, and he treats her gruffly to keep her at arms length.  If she gets close, he might not be able to stop himself from acting on his feelings.  After a too close encounter one night with a scantily clad PJ, Sebastian tells her the truth about who he is and why he’s there.  She is furious and won’t speak to him or her brother.  How could they not tell her, her life was in danger?  Will she be able to look past the subterfuge and see the man?  Can Sebastian break down her defenses and they get the love they both deserve, or will outside forces separate them permanently?

I highly recommend GETTING IT RIGHT.  The story has suspense and romance.  A great combination.  I cannot wait to read more of her work.
