Malcolm Kavanaugh has had his eye on Parker for awhile now and he is ready to make his move. Parker’s dedication to her friends, her brother, and her job are a big turn-on for Mal and he wants to finally explore their chemistry. Parker is not quite as sure as Mal that they have something worth pursuing but she is no coward and will give him a chance. He is not the man she initially sees herself with but she is also learning that maybe Mr. Right is not meant to be perfect. Mal makes her laugh, makes her take risks, and she is coming to care for him deeply. But she is concerned that he is not sharing his past and his problems as willingly as she is. Are they on equal footing or is Mal regretting his decision to take on Parker Brown?
HAPPY EVER AFTER is the final book in Nora Roberts’ Bride Quartet series. Readers will definitely enjoy this book even if they have not had a chance to read the previous three stories yet. There is happiness, conflict, romance, and friendship on every page. As with previous stories, I enjoyed seeing the bridal experience captured on the pages, as well as the ups and downs of making a wedding a success. The friendships of the four women are still top notch and comfortable. Mal and Parker however have a nice edginess to them to keep their romance slightly off kilter. Neither is quite sure of the other so they have to put themselves out there in new ways, ways that they may not be totally comfortable with. Parker is so used to being in charge that Mal definitely throws her off with his sense of adventure. But these two balance each other nicely by book’s end.
HAPPY EVER AFTER is a nice slice of romance and life. Mal and Parker do not have the easiest road but they are definitely forging their own path to a life together. Nora Roberts continues to prove she is at the top of her game.
