Hart's Desire: La Fleur De Love, Bk 2.5
Jan 1, 2013 - 12:20:09 PM
Melinda Dawson has returned home to a town that holds too many sad memories for her. If it had been up to her, she never would have come back, but her father is on his own since her mother's passing and he needs her to care for him. Melinda is just settling in when an encounter with a blast from her past sets her on her ear. Gregory Hart, someone who once meant the world to her, is also back in town and setting down some roots. Upon seeing him, old feelings resurface and Melinda rushes away.
Greg is delighted to see Melinda again, but baffled when she continually gives him the cold shoulder. He has always hated the way things ended between them, and is eager to put the past in the past, but Melinda is obviously holding onto a grudge. Greg tries hard to worm himself into her good graces again, but nothing he does seems to work for him. When Melinda's dad spills the beans, suddenly Melinda's actions become a whole lot more clear to Greg. How can he ever make it up to her for not being there when she needed him the most?! Greg must convince her to give him a second chance, because without Melinda, he is not complete.
HART'S DESIRE is an unbelievably heart-breaking story. I loved everything about it. Melinda goes through a very traumatic experience at a young age, one that leaves her broken, but somehow, she is able to learn and grow despite the horror of it all. I was in tears when I read about Melinda giving birth and having her baby ripped from her arms. To make matters worse, her own parents were responsible for her child being taken away to live with strangers. I do not know how Melinda manages to find the strength to go on living her life, but she does. She even patches things up with her parents, a feat I do not think I could ever accomplish after their betrayal. Melinda even gets a second chance with the love of her life. She just has to let go of the past and everything she ever wanted will be within her grasp.
