Since writing isn’t happening, Ginny opts to watch television and comes across a relationship talk show. While she would have normally scoffed at the so-called expert, Ginny realizes that what he’s saying makes sense and does apply to the reason why she’s alone. Is it possible that her mother could actually be right about her needing to get out?
It’s Christmas Eve and with a snowstorm raging there’s no chance of meeting a man especially out in the middle of nowhere. Or so she thinks. Ginny falls asleep while watching television but wakes up freezing cold with no electricity. In the quiet she can hear the barn doors slamming open and close. She has no choice but to go out to secure them and unexpectedly trips over a half-frozen man. While doing her best to warm him up Ginny discovers that he’s suffering from amnesia but that doesn’t stop them from making things downright steamy. Will Ginny’s mystery man provide the inspiration she needs to cure her writer’s block?
HE CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR is a perfect story to pick up when you have a little bit of extra time to read and relax. Cat Johnson always does a wonderful job writing stories that draw readers into the lives of the characters. I loved reading about Ginny’s "ah ha" moment where she realizes that mom just may have been right all along. I was also very curious about the mystery man, who he is, where he comes from, and if Ginny will ever see him again. Even without knowing the answers to those questions though he has a profound effect on Ginny’s outlook.
