Diana McTavish suffered unspeakable abuse at the hands of her ex-husband/Master. Fortunately, her brothers were there to help her though the rough spots and get her some help.
After a two-year stay in rehab, she’s returned home to get on with her life – whatever that may be. One thing’s for sure, she’ll never be at the mercy of another man. She tries her hand at the role of Domme but soon discovers it isn’t something she really wants to do. She grew up in a BDSM family, what’s so hard about living the life now – on her own terms?
Matt Rogers is back in town and wants to help Diana. He’ll do anything to get her back in his life even if it means becoming her submissive. Little by little Matt is able to gain her trust and allows her to be the dominant one in their budding relationship to prove that his love for her is real and he’s nothing like her ex.
Abuse is a tricky subject for anyone to tackle.
Ann Jacobs has done an outstanding job giving glimpses of Diana’s relationship with her ex-husband and the lasting effects it has on her psyche. That she’s done this without all the gory details says everything about her ability to tell a story that grabs you with the first sentence and gives you a front row seat to watch the players go about their lives. When it ends, you’re left with a myriad of emotions from wanting to strangle that horrid ex-husband to applauding Matt, her brothers and their wives for the way they loved her and helped her become the woman she wanted to be.
The HEART OF THE WEST series has come to an end and I’m very glad I had the opportunity to read it. The world of BDSM is at the heart of this series. The brothers and their women embrace it in different ways and prove that it’s not something to be ashamed of or hide away. True love is just that no matter how it’s attained. Diana blossoms and her budding relationship with Matt will leave you breathless and begging for more. The end came all too soon.
I highly recommend LASSOED and have placed it in my e-book keeper file next to ROPED and HITCHED.
