Will Marshall is Brad’s brother. He served as the best man at Brad and Sarah’s wedding fiasco. While he was shocked that Brad opted not to marry at the very last minute, it was Sarah he truly wanted to comfort.
Because Sarah’s mother lives with her there’s no chance of finding the solitude that she needs in order to deal with her feelings about Brad’s extremely public rejection. With all the hotels booked up because of the Christmas holidays there seems to be no escape. Her friend, Dani, suggests that she use her honeymoon cruise ticket. Sarah’s mother is busy playing ‘woe is me’ to the steady stream of sympathizers who arrive at Sarah's apartment . Sarah isn’t even able to escape to her job as a teacher since school is closed for the holidays. When she learns that her mother's cousin is sending her own daughter to stay with them, Sarah makes the decision to escape by using her ticket.
Will works as a travel writer but has decided that it’s time to write his own novel. His writing isn’t going well and he’s frustrated. What he needs is a little rest and relaxation. Meanwhile, Brad is expressing remorse over ‘chickening out’ at the wedding and determined to win Sarah back, but first he’ll have to get past her mother. When Will mentions relaxing at his place for a while, Brad tells him that if he really wants to relax, he should take the his place on the cruise. The only problem is that the ticket is in Brad’s name and it’s an International cruise. They look enough alike to easily pass for each other, so Brad simply lends Will his passport for the trip. Brad is supposed to make amends with Sarah. Will is supposed to finally get some down time. Neither of them believed that Sarah would actually use her ticket and go on the cruise. They’re all in for a huge surprise.
Sarah is a strong woman who refuses to wallow in self pity despite the horrible embarrassment of being left at the altar. I loved her determined spirit and the gutsy personality that is gradually revealed throughout this storyline. I’ve never been on a cruise so I loved reading about the bizarre passengers and all the onboard activities. I especially adored Will’s struggle to not fall in love with Sarah out of loyalty to Brad. Jana Richards HER BEST MAN is fun adventure you won’t want to miss.
