When Srikkanth Bhattacharya agreed to donate sperm so his best friend could have a baby, he had no intention of being directly involved in the child’s life. The unexpected news of Jill’s death during childbirth hits Sri hard. He is also surprised to learn that he is listed as the baby’s father. At first he has no intention of being a father but he wants to make sure that Jill’s daughter has a good home. However, all that goes out the window the first time Sri holds the baby in his arms. Despite being terrified of raising a child on his own he knows he will never let his daughter go.

When Sri first brings Sophie home he is overwhelmed. He has no idea how to take care of a baby. Thankfully, his roommate Jaime Frias is a big help. He has a big family and he helped his mother take care of his siblings. His calm demeanor goes a long way toward soothing Sri’s nerves. Jaime helps him take care of Sophie and the three of them quickly fall into a routine. Soon Sri can’t imagine his life without Sophie and Jaime in it.

This novel gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Like any bachelor when Sri first learns he has a daughter he is scared and overwhelmed. He has no idea how to take care of a baby but he falls in love at first sight with Sophie. I really admired his courage and determination to do right by his daughter. Ms. Tachna does a great job of showing the reader that Sri and Jaime are loving and caring parents who love and support one another and that their sexual orientation has nothing to do with their ability to care for their daughter. Jaime and Sri are really adorably clueless about their feelings for one another and there were times when I wanted to hit them over the head. I enjoyed this novel a great deal and I found myself thinking about it long after I finished reading. HER TWO DADS by Ariel Tachna is a sweet and stirring novel about the power of love and family.
