Rock's HIS HOMETOWN GIRL was an emotional read especially where Tyler was concerned. Having worked with autistic children, Rock portrays Tyler and his actions realistically as well as Jodi's handling of him especially in public. Daniel and Jodi had immediate chemistry even though she had run away from him without any explanation ten years before. Watching them dance around each other and their feelings when everyone around them could see them as a couple and how they felt was angst ridden at times and other times when they let some of their barriers down, sweet. There were strong bonds between he, his sister, Sue, and their dad and it was heartwarming to see how much they cared for each other. Jodi had a hard time letting anyone in since she was always so focused on Tyler and he always came first. There was family and friends, neighbors, a huge corporation trying to buy up the farms, laughter, tears, guilt, fear, perseverance, breakthroughs, romance and love. There was a happily ever after in the offing but an epilogue to tie up all the loose ends and give better closure would have been great.
Rock is a fairly new to me author who writes young adult novels and also adult romances for Harlequin Heartwarming. I have read WISH ME TOMORROW and enjoyed it and I look forward to reading her other books even the young adult novels. I hope to read many more novels she writes for the Harlequin Heartwarming line.
