Melodee Dayton works as an executive assistant for Random Toys and the only thing she enjoys about the position is the opportunity to ogle her employer Sanford Williams. The company sure isn’t creating anything that would give them the edge to be viable in the future and they’re flat out ignoring Sanford’s concerns and suggestions. Obviously she should start looking for a new job in the very near future - preferably before they go out of business.

Sanford Williams likes toys but he’s got visions of producing more ‘adult’ oriented toys. He even has several prototypes created . . . he just needs a test subject. Getting the notice of his termination with Random Toys is just the catalyst he needs to concentrate on making his vision of taking the adult toy market by storm. As luck would have it, Melodee hand delivers the missive to him and he takes the opportunity to proposition her - all in the name of research.

Having to type up Sanford’s discharge paper is downright depressing for Melodee. He’s one of the hardest workers she’s ever met, not to mention the perfect incentive for her to come to work. How will she bear working at Random Toys once he’s gone? She expected him to be upset over his dismissal but Sanford sees it as the opportunity to finally move on. When he asks her to shut the door so that he can proposition her all sorts of visions run through her mind but nothing like what he actually suggests. Sanford is willing to pay Melodee a thousand dollars for one weekend’s worth of work. All she has to do is agree to try out the variety of ‘toys’ he’s created. It’ll all be very scientific - but will Sanford be able to remain scientifically dispassionate once he begins to witness her enjoyment of his products? There’s nothing wrong with two people pleasuring each other if that’s all they’re interested in and that’s all either of them wants, but with heat this intense you just never know what will happen.

For many readers, Ruby Storm has become an icon of the romance genre and I know for me, she’s a ‘must read’ author. I have to admit I was a bit leery of venturing into reading an 'exotika' story . . . after all I want my riding off into the sunset happily-ever-after, and this line isn't necesarily romance - but I have to say I adored this story. The characters are realistic and neither of them pretends to be looking for a real relationship. They admit that what they want is a mutually satisfying sexual relationship and friendship. There’s a simple honesty in their time together that really draws the reader into this storyline and keeps you reading to find out just how their relationship turns out. There’s something so refreshingly different about this story that I’m left in awe of Ms. Storm’s constantly evolving talent to write in whichever genre she chooses and always giving me a reason to smile.
