When recently divorced college counselor Karina Barrett is asked to spend Christmas secretly evaluating a holiday themed B&B for the company hoping to buy it, she jumps at the chance.  It will be good, she thinks, to get away from her ex-husband and his new, very young, girlfriend, and show her three children what a real Christmas is.  With snow and everything!  For a California family, it is the trip of a lifetime.  When she meets sexy innkeeper Reid, the snow instantly melts from the heat they generate.  But will her secret destroy their relationship before it even has a chance to begin?

Single dad Reid Sullivan is a globetrotting adventurer whose job consists of taking rich spoiled businessmen on fantasy excursions in exotic locations.  His two daughters love their unorthodox lifestyle and have never lived in one place for more than a few months as they move around the world exploring with their dad and their tutor.  When an emergency phone call from half way around the world reaches him, he instantly packs his bags and his girls and head home to Michigan.

When he arrives in aptly named Kismet, Michigan, Reid is told that his parents are selling the family business, The Christmas House, and it’s up to Reid to make sure the impending inspection goes perfectly, in spite of the fact that they won’t know which of their guests is the spy.  What he doesn’t expect is to fall for a California girl with three troubled but lovable children.  When things start going seriously wrong around the inn, it’s all Reid can do to keep the mishaps from becoming problems the secret inspector will report to the company looking to buy the inn.  Little does he know Karina who is helping him clean up all the messes, is also the spy!

Oh, my gosh!  This is without a doubt the best holiday novel I have ever read!  Immensely readable, laugh out loud funny and with enough mystery and suspense to keep me hooked, I read far into the night and finished HOLIDAY AFFAIR much quicker than I would have liked!  Karina and Reid were immeasurably likeable as were their kids and the various guests and peripheral characters.  You must read this book!  I am looking forward to Christmas, so I have an excuse to re-read this amazing novel!
