Colt Dickenson has come back to Hope Springs in between rodeo engagements. When he finds his family’s neighbor’s daughter back home as well, he decides to stay awhile.
The Lazy Windmill Ranch has undergone a myriad of changes in the last six months. Casie came home intending to get the ranch sold and go back to the city. Then three teenagers show up needing a place to stay and the ranch is changed into a dude ranch of sorts. With an eighteen year old pregnant girl doing the cooking, a sixteen year old spoiled rich girl who teaches riding and jumping and an abused teenage boy who teaches cow roping, the laughs and tears are plentiful.
Casie and Colt had been close at one time but he had left her to fend for herself when he went back to the rodeo circuit. Casie still has feelings for Colt but after her last bad relationship she is going to prove she can take care of herself. Add in some strange animals and an elderly woman who is bent on proving something to herself by learning how to ride, a stolen horse and lawsuits off the charts and you have a fun-loving, crazy and sometimes psychotic bunch to read about.
I haven’t ever read any of Lois Greiman's books before and feel like if I had read the first book in this series I might not have been quite so confused about the characters and how they come to the ranch. All in all, though, it was a good read and I will try to find the first book to read as well as reading any more to come out in this series.
