Maggie Hayden has just reached the big 5-0 milestone in her life, and she isn't one bit happy about it.  With wrinkles that materialized overnight and her once-firm body now just a saggy mess, poor Maggie isn't about to give in and grow old gracefully.  Instead, she's going into old age kicking and screaming with a jar of cold cream in one hand and a bottle of hair dye in the other.

Maggie's husband Gordon knows something is making Maggie act kind of funny sometimes, although he isn't sure just what exactly is wrong with her. Gordon spends lots of extra time at the office working on cases and doesn't realize just how lonely Maggie is with only their incontinent dog for company. Can clueless Gordon finally realize menopause, hot flashes, and an empty nest are Maggie's reality, and he needs to help her through this time in her life? Will Maggie's fears of losing Gordon finally be calmed when she learns to trust other people instead of only relying on herself?

Oh, my! I have to start this review with a quick warning: If you are somewhere you need to be quiet, do not choose this book to read! You cannot help but laugh out loud while reading this humorous author's newest book HOT FLASHES AND COLD CREAM. Take one menopausal woman fighting the aging process, throw in a workaholic, totally clueless hubby, mix with a widowed best friend in search of love and a couple of younger ladies at the office, and you have the beginnings of one of the funniest books I have read in recent history. Through the help of her loving husband, her best friend, and God, Maggie comes to realize her true value doesn't center around what the outside looks like, but what's inside is only what really matters when the HOT FLASHES AND COLD CREAM are calling your name.
