Liam Rafferty is back home seeking to find missing treasure and get his life back together after a business gone bad. A failed marriage and a teenager in tow make for an angst filled life for Liam. Liam had left Ireland for America to seek his fortune many years before, breaking poor Vi's heart in the process. Problem is, he's searching for the missing gold on Nan's, now Vi's property. Did he get her permission or is he trespassing?
Despite the years and heartache, can these two find a common ground and help each other find peace and love again? Is there any truth to the legend passed down through the ages that Vi's kin in the distant past knows the where about of Rafferty's gold.
The main characters are likeable and you will find yourself cheering them on as they confront familial difficulties. You will want to see Vi and Liam together again; it's only right since their hearts and bodies still crave each other after all those years.
Secondary characters make the story believable. They help to expose the main characters flaws and strengths. Ms. Kelly did not disappoint with HOT WHISPERS OF AN IRISHMAN, she painted vivid pictures of the scenery as well as of the characters. It was as if I was watching a movie. Solving the mystery of Rafferty's gold alone is well worth the price of the book. I will definitely be seeking other books by Dorien Kelly to read.
