Angel is a "retired" NASCAR driver who was injured in a race. The injury has left him permanently blind and resulted in his ex-wife leaving him for someone better. Angel used to be an arrogant jerk; but now, he's realized that there are a lot more important things in the world outside of his ego. When he contacts Shelly, she is everything he's ever wanted in a woman, even though they've never met face-to-face. Angel is determined to change that though and invites Shelly to a NASCAR ball. Will Shelly agree to give Angel a chance? Can Angel redeem himself in the NASCAR world?
HOTLINE is a superb story written around the NASCAR world. This story delves deep into human emotions and handicaps; it begs readers to put themselves in the characters shoes. I am a huge fan of NASCAR so it was a great joy to have the opportunity to read a story about a driver and his lady love. At turns, HOTLINE was heart-wrenching, witty, joyful and soul-searching. I really liked Shelly and I totally wanted things to work out with her and Angel, even though she was breaking her own rules. Angel was sexy and playful. I'm glad he learned his lesson from being so arrogant and heartless before his accident. When these two hooked up, they were combustible. There are other people standing in their way, which is another reason I enjoyed the story so much. HOTLINE definitely had a tremendous plot line which kept me guessing whether or not Angel and Shelly really would be together by the end. I truly hope that Ms. Winston continues to write stories revolving around NASCAR in the future. HOTLINE is definitely a story that I could see becoming part of an ongoing series and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Winston very soon!
