The only man Samantha’s meets who even remotely foots the bill was have been the professor from their tour. Only he’s barely spoken to her and probably hates her after hearing her snide comments about every smart guy she meets being boring and not so sexy.
Sam attends the masquerade with a sense of hopefulness. It’s her last opportunity to share a physical connection with a man before returning home. She’s not sure it’ll happen but she’s willing to be open to possibilities and sure enough soon after arriving at the party she notices a man she can only describe as tall, dark, handsome and dangerous. His costume reminds her of a hero from a bygone era or a highwayman. Either way he’s exactly what she’s looking for.
Nick Tremaine notices Sam right away and has every intention of spending the evening with her. There’s a sense of safety in wearing the masks and after an amazing evening indulging in their desires, Sam opts not to remove their masks and preserve the fantasy. Only will she come to regret not finding out the identity of her partner for the evening once she returns home.
HUNGARIAN MASQUERADE is a charming read full of passion, mystery, humor and the beginning of a relationship that will have readers smiling. Lara Dien’s attention to detail and carefully developed plot and characters brings this story to life. Sam and Nick make an exciting couple and their interactions at the masquerade is only a sample of how delightfully hot they could be together. This story is fast paced with an ending that promises a happily-ever-after – or at least that’s my hope J
