How many times have you wished that you had a time machine, just so you could go back and do things differently? Would you, if you could? Bree gets that opportunity, but is this just a painful glimpse of what could have been, or the chance to change the past?
IF ONLY gives us that most tantalizing of propositions, what if you had the chance to undo one of the things you most regret having done. Bree dumped the love of her life to marry a man who appeared to be the perfect man, and who turned her life into a nightmare. Bumping into Scott on the night her friends take her to celebrate her divorce is the catalyst for what might have been.
As Bree experiences her alternate life with Scott, she can’t let go or forget what happened the first time around. Will her abusive ex ruin this reality too? Bryan is such an amazingly wonderful guy, that had the author failed to make Bree’s ex Bryan a convincingly believable character, the reader would not be able to understand how Bree could have been foolish enough to fall for him.
I enjoyed the way this book was written. I was never quite sure how the author intended to play out what happened to Bree. I did wonder if this was going to turn out to all be a dream…but this was a cleverly conceived novel, with an enjoyably original premise.
