Intimate Stranger - Undercover series, Book 3
Jul 17, 2012 - 8:00:00 AM
Eight years ago, Emily McCullen lost the love of her life, her husband Steve. Now she's marrying again, but in drastically different circumstances. She wants to have a family and is engaged to Steve's friend and colleague, Skip. This time she isn't madly in love. Emily is just making do and getting on with her life - but is that enough? Especially when a sexy stranger comes into her life, who makes her feel things she hasn't felt in eight long years.
Emily and Steve McCullen were newlyweds with a lifetime of love ahead of them when Steve was killed. Emily has only just been able to move on and is remarrying, when her home and kitchen are raided by a man who claims to be a friend of Steve's. A friend that Emily has never heard of, and who makes her feel alive in a way that her fiance doesn't. Confusingly, the stranger reminds her oddly of Steve, not physically, but in a way that makes her question herself. Is it a coincidence that her home has been broken into and searched, just when Chance has arrived? Or is Chance using the attraction between them to divert her from finding out the real reason why he is only now making the acquaintance of his friend's widow?
I've read several stories with a similar theme, but none that have combined the familiar aspect of the main characters interaction with the taut anticipation of a new relationship, so well or so convincingly. Both characters have been changed by time and circumstance, and have grown up in more ways than one. Their love and passion has also evolved and is stronger than ever. Combined with the strongly emotive story is a suspenseful thriller that I found just as compelling as the romance. I've read other works by this author but none that grabbed me the way this story and characters did. This story is achingly sexy and tender. If you like hot sensual romances, with real depth, I recommend this book.
