ITALIAN KNIGHTS drew me in immediately and was reminiscent of the way I was raised and the Italian way of thinking - to protect the women at all costs but especially when you love that woman!  DeVita got it right with the ways of the neighborhood, the closeness of the neighbors that look out for each other and how friendship can turn to love.

DeVita's ITALIAN KNIGHTS is a quick reading contemporary retro romance  that was heartwarming with only kisses and touches that was just right for Annie and Sal.  It was fun to see their attraction grow as their chemistry took over.  Because they are friends and Annie is the widow of Sal's best friend it didn't seem that their awareness of each other would ever take off.  Throw in a crime to solve, a sleazy developer, some secrets and their insecurities and love doesn't seem to be in the cards.  It was interesting to see how Annie and Sal kept backing off when they each wanted to get closer but didn't believe it was what the other wanted.  There was laughter, tears, some frightening moments along with family, friends, fellow cops, neighbors, and the neighborhood.  The description of Annie's home was lovely and there was the hoped for happily ever after that appeared in an unexpected way.  The epilogue was a nice touch too.

I have not read books by DeVita before but will definitely being looking for more of her stories.  Many of the titles on her website piqued my interest so I'll be back for more.
