Leigh's THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was a light read that had Hugh and Amelia at its forefront - childhood friends from outside of London that could only be their true selves with each other and who were also best friends. Neither one could see what was right in front of them but they did have chemistry - even if they argued a lot. Hugh chased after Lucy because of her looks and nothing else since he couldn't even hold a conversation with her. This kept giving him pause especially after each and every encounter he had with Amelia. When they married, would this be his life? The jealousy he showed when Aubrey was brought in to woo Amelia and save Hugh's face was laughable at times. The chaperones were hilarious since they never really chaperoned between napping and going for tea. There were friends, family, romance, pursuits, schemes, laughter and ultimately love. I enjoyed having the prologue and epilogue for background info and to tie up the loose ends.
Leigh is a new to me author and I enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to reading her other historical romances.
