Jamieson's JILTED had so many subplots and romances going on throughout the book but the main romance was that of Josh and Devon whose escapades in the bedroom set the book aflame. I felt that I got to know each of them and what their fears and hopes were even though they were so complex. The author did a great job of peeling back their layers so we could see the real person underneath. There was family, friends, co-workers and colleagues, beautiful settings both on Greenbush Island and in Promise Harbor, their careers and businesses, anxiety, tears, sorrow, remorse, fears, happiness, romance and sex and ultimately love. Watching Devon come to grips with many parts of her life that she never understood her part in was at times heart wrenching. There was a happily ever after and it wasn't the long term one I wanted but I'm hoping in the other books in the series we're reunited with Josh and Devon and we see how their lives finally play out. If we knew that as part of Jilted it would have been the closure I wanted and needed.
There were excerpts at the back of the book for books 2, 3 and 4 of this series, BOLTED by Meg Benjamin, BUSTED by Sydney Somers and HITCHED by Erin Nicholas respectively. Interestingly though each book in the series is written by a different author. I can't wait to read them all. They even have a website with information about the town, the people, the places, the books and the authors - http://www.promiseharborwedding.com/. It's reminiscent to me of Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold website. I look forward to reading more of Jamieson's books and now have three additional author's books to look for!
