Eliza has the "hots" for her boss, Chris, who is unlike any man she has ever known. Eliza shamelessly flirts with him at work and dreams about him at night. She gets the chance to spend some time with him away from work at a poker game, where she wagers a bet with Chris during the game. If Eliza wins, she gets three nights of her choice, if Chris wins, he gets three nights of his choice. Eliza knows that Chris doesn't care for children, but if he wants her, he has to accept her daughter Jocelyn, they are a package deal.  Can Chris give Eliza what she wants?

Chris can't stop thinking of Eliza, his sexy secretary. Every moment is spent thinking of her. When he finds out that she has a daughter, he is angry. He doesn't date women with children as a rule. Eliza wins the poker game and her three nights are more than Chris bargained for. He can feel his control slipping, afraid he will do something to hurt Eliza, he pushes her away. Octavia, Chris's sister, tries to convince Chris that he doesn't carry the same anger that their parents did. Will Eliza let Chris hide behind his fears, and risk losing him forever?

JOKERS WILD: THREE NIGHTS by Lena Matthews, had me crying for the young children who had such a rotten life, and laughing at Jocelyn's "Shark Bait" and "Gill". Though Chris had gotten out of the abusive relationship with his parents, and was raised by two people who loved him and his sister, he still let the fear of turning out like his father rule his life. Can Eliza and Jocelyn show Chris that he is nothing like the man he feared the most? This book touched my heart, and is a keeper for my favorite's shelf.
