Ann Small has just found out she is pregnant. Only fourteen years old, she doesn't even understand exactly how it has happened. Her sixteen-year-old boyfriend decides he isn't ready to be a father and quickly breaks up with her. With her mother deceased and her workaholic father never around, Ann is left to deal with her pregnancy on her own. What will her father say when he finds out?

Richard Small misses his wife terribly. Not fully understanding how he and his daughter have grown so distant, he feels awkward around her now as she blossoms into a young woman. Afraid to touch her or say he loves her for fear it will be taken the wrong way, Richard avoids Ann most of the time. He instead works long hours, seven days a week, leaving Ann to fend for herself.

Monica Albright is a thirty-two-year-old woman with lots of love she'd like to share with someone. Deciding to become a Big Sister to a young girl who needs some guidance in life, Monica is matched with Ann Small. They very quickly become fast friends.

As the three of them begin spending more time together, Richard and Ann realize they are starting to fall in love. Will their love interfere with their ability to provide Ann with the support she so desperately needs? Will the one who has brought them together be the one to ultimately keep them apart?

Deborah Bedford has been given the opportunity to rewrite four of her early writings, one of which is JUST BETWEEN US. Adding touches of her deep religious faith into this book, it has now been spit-and-polished to a high shine. God shows His redeeming love by taking a hopeless situation and using it for His glory. JUST BETWEEN US is a book you won't be able to put down until you find out what happens to these characters. Be ready to have a heart attack of the best kind; your heart will not escape unaffected by this novel.
