Shattered is an amazing story about two people from totally different backgrounds who overcome many difficult obstacles to find true love. Steven Macmillan is an oil magnate and owner of Macmillan International. Alexandria Houston is a stripper at a place called Classy Lady. Their lives couldn't be more radically different and at first it seems that there is no hope that the wonderful lead characters will find a chance for love. But as Alex and Steven meet again nearly a year after their first encounter with each other, the sparks are still there, and what ensues is an extremely hot and erotic read that sizzles with the chemistry of not only Steven and Alex, but also the two main secondary characters; Jake Macmillan, Steve's brother, and Alex's best friend Ameril. From the strip club to an amusement park, Steven and Alex's love affair rockets from the sublime to the extremely passionate.

What makes this story really wonderful is how strong and individual the two main characters are. Alex has had a few hard knocks in life, but she isn't letting it get her down. She attends college during the day and saves all the money she makes in the various jobs she is employed in. She isn't too proud or haughty, and the fact that she works as a stripper doesn't faze her at all, she is very proud of her work and the strip scenes are written extremely well. Steven is also proud, not knowing how much he loves and cherishes Alex until he almost loses her. Karen Monroe's SHATTERED is a hot romance, with lots of steam and sass and a very good story line that will keep the reader interested from the first page to the last. This reviewer hopes that there will be a sequel starring Jake and Ameril in the near future.
