Ella Briley is on her way to a party to celebrate her first comic book release. Everything is finally beginning to come together for her. Before Ella can head off to celebrate, she needs to make a quick stop at a friend's house. Ella may long for adventure in her life, but falling through a mirror and traveling back in time was not how she planned on achieving that goal.

Patrick Meadowfair, Earl of Fairhaven, agrees to help a friend in need with little thought to the consequences. What starts out as a simple favor soon turns into a fiasco. Not only has he rescued the wrong damsel in distress, but she is different from any other woman he has ever known. Although Ella claims to be from another time, that is the least shocking part of her story.

If Patrick had not witnessed something unexplainable on the battlefield at one time, he never would have believed Ella's story. Right away he notices what a treasure Ella is. As they begin their very confusing journey together, evading an outraged father and his cronies while trying to locate his missing friend, Patrick starts to wish there could be more between them. If only they were not from two different places in time.

While browsing a friend's to-be-read list, I found a gem of an author, Gina Lamm. She literally struck me out of nowhere with the brilliance of her GEEK GIRL series. Her debut, THE GEEK GIRL AND THE SCANDALOUS EARL, is such a delight that I came back for more. I somehow managed to skip the second novel, GEEK GIRLS DON'T DATE DUKES, which I plan on going back and reading, by the way. I did, however, read the third addition, KISS THE EARL and it is a charming read. Patrick and Ella bring new meaning to long distance relationships. Although, they do not actually have a long distance relationship, they are from two very different places and time periods, hence the long distance. Their drama is what makes KISS THE GIRL so hilarious and dare I say, heartbreaking. I wanted this novel to go on and on.
