Rick McAllister isn’t sure what to make of his new house-sitter. Although she seems nice, she is jumpy and skittish. Rick figures that it's understandable, given the ordeal she’d been through with her sleazy husband. What Rick doesn’t understand is his instant attraction to Kate. He is a very demanding lover and has dark and edgy tastes when it comes to sex. Shy, reserved librarians like Kate are not the kind of woman he looks for in a relationship.
However, as the months go by, a tentative friendship begins for Rick and Kate as they exchange emails and phone calls. Kate begins to take better care of herself and her own needs, and a new, more confident Kate begins to emerge. Rick looks forward to Kate’s emails and pictures. In fact, as he grows more weary and disillusioned with his undercover career with the DEA, he begins to long for a simple life back home in his farmhouse, a life that includes Kate. When Rick finally returns home, instead of the Kate he last saw many months ago, he finds a sexy, desirable woman intent on seducing him. Rick doesn’t mind being seduced, but he wants more from Kate. He wants her heart and soul forever. The only trouble is Kate has been burned before, and it will take a lot of convincing to get her to take a chance on love again.
KISS ME KATE is the delightful story of one woman’s journey from heartbreak to triumph. I absolutely loved how author Mari Carr allows us to witness the rebirth of Kate’s confidence through the emails and calls between her and Rick. The absence of any physical contact between the two main characters led to an incredible build up of sexual tension that was explosive when their relationship was finally consummated. KISS ME KATE is a beautiful love story, that is also hot enough to boil your blood. Mari Carr is proving herself to be a talented new voice in romantic fiction, and her books are definitely worth checking out.
