Two years ago Laila ran from
Matthew Hardin hasn’t forgotten the gorgeous redhead who ran from him. Imagine his surprise when he opens his front door to see the same redhead he’s dreamed about for two years. This time he won’t let her escape.
Matt agrees to help Laila but on his terms. She’ll pay his fee and expenses. Laila agrees to that but isn’t so sure she should have come to him for help when he tells her the rest of his terms.
Reese Gabriel never ceases to amaze me with the way tells a story. Matt and Laila come together in much the same way that a violent storm is formed. Cold air meets hot and the result is a slow sizzle that builds up to thunder and lightening. It’s fun to sit back and watch these two as they work out their differences and look for her brother when they’re not at one another’s throats. Laila insists that if she’s paying Matt to find her brother, she intends to be right in the middle of things.
The secondary characters who are introduced during their search will keep you in stitches. Every time Matt tells her to stay in the truck and keep low she insists on going with him. Leon the bartender slips and tells her how much Matt has missed her. Geronimo is found in a cave keeping watch over stolen gold. Laila uses some self-defense tactics to show the man who is in charge. Then there’s Tolliver who took Danny out to treasure hunt.
Whether he wants to or not, Geronimo is pressed into service helping Matt and Laila remove the gold from the cave. They’ll use it to barter for Danny’s release. What’ll happen after he’s rescued? Will she run again or will Matt be able to convince her to stay?
This is definitely one of those sexy and fun books that you do not want to miss. The blurb will tell you that there is mild bondage. What’s a little handcuff play between lovers? This is a recommended read and a keeper. I know I’ll go back and re-read it. I’m hoping that Mr. Gabriel will write Bobby’s story. After all, he didn’t think he was missing. Why the big deal over a little treasure hunting?
