Eric "Demon" Delmonico doesn’t have any qualms about ‘shadowing’ Lucia 24/7. He’s been privy to information regarding threats being made toward the princess which unfortunately she is blissfully unaware. Eric’s well aware of Lucia’s reputation as an Ice Princess but after enduring her fiery reaction to having the decision regarding his presence taken from her he’s not so sure that title actually fits.
Prince Alex and his new bride have already left for their honeymoon by the time Lucia learns that Eric’s been hired to provide her with round-the-clock security. Since she had no knowledge of the threats against her this is completely unacceptable. The attraction between them is immediate but Eric is professional and takes his responsibility to protect her very seriously. Lucia could almost handle that he’s to be her security guard, after all she could evade him, right? Well, when she attempts locking him out of her apartment she discovers just how adept he is at his job. She soon realizes just how serious the threat to her is and is thankful to have him at her side but is it just wishful thinking that he could view her as simply a woman and not a ‘princess on a pedestal’?
We first met Princess Lucia in LESSONS IN LOVE when she hired the kindergarten teacher to help with Eric’s young daughter. She’s a strong sassy character whom I loved meeting and couldn’t wait to learn more about her. Kate Davies makes this modern day royal family seem approachable and exactly the sort of people you’d want in your friendship circle. Eric is dedicated to his job and not even a royal attitude will deter him from what he has to do. The battles between these two characters kept me giggling since neither of them would back down and Lucia is so ‘proper’ even in her anger. This is a fun story that pulls you into the characters lives and keeps you guessing about who is threatening Lucia and why.
If you haven’t read LESSONS IN LOVE yet, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to enjoy LESSONS IN TRUST. However, I do recommend reading both stories simply because they are fun and you’ll get the full impact of Lucia’s personality.
