As an ex-con, he’s used to scheming and lying to get information. Having spent two years in jail for a supposed murder he committed while under the influence, he’s been socially cast out of his high-class family, including being prohibited from seeing his twelve-year-old daughter Libby. In a weird way, Ellie can help him change that by making a decent man out of him.
As the two go about using each other, Jack is being used for answers about a friend’s murder and Ellie is needed to elevate Jack’s social standings, their supposedly fake romance starts to bloom into something more. Jack cares for Ellie more than he’s willing to let on and the deeper she digs into Banner’s life, the more dangerous it becomes for her. Criminal activity is surrounding them every way they look. With the supposed first murder Bannor committed, what will stop him from trying it again?
Wow. I love stories full of mystery and adventure and Starr Ambrose gives her readers both in her debut novel LIE TO ME. What started out as a little fib turned into a lively, unique romance that was fun to watch develop. Ellie is a fun heroine and, of course, Jack is the sexy, bad-boy hero. The sexual tension between the two crackles within each scene and the blooming romance was tender and enjoyable to watch as the story progresses. I definitely enjoyed the bit of humor laced throughout making the story an extremely enjoyable read. I look forward to reading what Ms. Ambrose has in store for her readers next.
