Kenna Lataine Blackstock assumes the responsibility of the livestock. She lives on the ranch at the south end of the island and works with and cares for the horses.
Her love for horses and a recent romance that went sour give her the perfect opportunity to indulge her love and get over the creep who would have been her boyfriend. She returns to her home one evening to find a stranger ensconced there. The stranger is Shane Severin, the owner of the little section of the island. He has returned to the island but the repairs haven't been completed on his house. There is no room at the island resort, so Cami sent him to stay at Kenna's.
To say that Kenna and Shane got off to a bad start would be the year's biggest understatement. She doesn't want him there and he's not sure exactly what he wants - other than Kenna.
Shane also carries a lot of baggage in his life. He and his father don't speak; a girl who assumed he would marry her can' t seem to accept the fact that he wants nothing to do with her. She doesn' t give up.
A tenuous relationship between Kenna and Shane begins when she needs help with a mare who is in serious trouble trying to give birth. Little by little they become a couple with him expressing his love for her and she denying hers for him.
Thrown into the mix are the unforgiving 'fiance' and a father who is out for revenge. The father sends two of his minions to the island to observe them and kidnap Kenna. Add to that the young female appearing at the house claiming to be Shane's daughter. She's also determined to destroy Kenna and Shane's relationship, even if it means killing Kenna in the process.
Kenna is drugged and kidnapped. The man takes her home when he learns that she's pregnant.
The road that Shane and Kenna take to solve their problems and find their place in the world is filled with pitfalls. Will they make it? Will they have the life they want?
If you' re looking for a mix of romance, intrigue and suspense this is a perfect choice. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, Ms. Lowry throws in a dash of the paranormal. LOVE COVE is a great read and I' ve found Kelli Lowry to be one of the best of the new authors.
This book is highly recommended - for more than just one read-through. It's also a keeper.
