Brandon isn’t stupid, he knows there’s something going on that Ryan isn’t sharing with him and that aggravates the Dom in him. He’s distracted by Ryan’s lovely ‘gift’ of Jay – all restrained and ready to submit to him in any way he desires. While Ryan has visions of Brandon claiming Jay as his submissive too, Brandon’s not so sure how well such a scenario would work, but agrees to give it a six month trial run.
For Jay, being claimed by Brandon is a dream. The man is sex personified, but she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop and that has her on the proverbial edge. Ryan’s been so concerned about seeing to Brandon’s future and making sure the man would have someone to love in his life after he’s gone that he hasn’t bothered to tell Brandon that he only has months to live. When he does all hell is going to break loose and Jay isn’t sure where she’ll fit in once the dust settles. Will Brandon still want her as a sub? And what of Ryan, he’s going to need all the love and support as his time draws near, how will they handle the loss of someone who means so much to both of them?
Heartbreakingly sweet! I fully confess to sitting here with tears in my eyes after reading Angela Castle’s LOVE UNBOUND. The loving friendship between Jay and Ryan is so poignant that you can’t help but feel their heartache at the thought of Ryan’s fatal diagnosis. Ryan knows Brandon isn’t going to take his diagnosis well, but wants his master to have someone to comfort him and love – and what better person than the woman who’s been his best friend since their school days? My heart broke for Brandon who didn’t seem to know what to do or how to handle things (and in his own grief ends up rejecting Jay), but he comes around so I can overlook his hurtful behavior. LOVE UNBOUND is a relatively short story that contains far more passion, love, heartbreak, genuine friendship and heartache than I would have thought any author would be capable of squeezing into so few words.
