Flora and Fauna Sparks are popular teen pop stars and joined at the hip.  When they are out in public, they are always smiling and telling everyone they love being joined together and would not have it any other way.  Their father, who is also their manager, has always taken care of them.  Their mother left them when they were babies.  Are the twins truly happy being joined together?  Or does their desire of being individuals run much deeper than anyone knows?

Sloan Madden is a celebrity journalist who has always been fascinated with Siamese twins.  After working hard for so many years, she finally lands her dream job to write a biography on two teenage pop stars that are literally joined at the hip.  Sloan thinks this will be an easy job, until she gets to know them.  She learns that stardom and being conjoined twins is not everything she thought it was cracked up to be.

Sloan Madden loves a man who does not love her like she wants him to.  She also was left at the altar by her ex-fiancé.  Sloan is more deeply hurt than she realizes and retaliates by sleeping with anyone who tickles her fancy at the time.  But when an old friend falls for one of the twins, she soon realizes that she has not been fair to herself and needs to grow up.

Will Sloan finally get her life on track before she self-destructs?  Will she get the book written she has always dreamed of writing?

LOVE WILL TEAR US APART is an emotional tale of betrayal, self-destruction and love.  Tara McCarthy pens an account of childhood dreams of stardom and turns it into a dose of tragic reality.  I absolutely loved the twins for their wittiness and ability to make the most of their unique situation, but yet I felt sorry for them for never being able to be the remarkable individuals they could have become.  I wanted to slap Sloan and scream at her to grow up and get a life, but she captured my respect when she grew into a better person.  I never saw the ending coming.  LOVE WILL TEAR US APART is definitely a great title for this charming tale.
