Luke Nielson is the mayor of Cupid, Texas, and Melody’s high school sweetheart. After a bad break-up and differences of opinion, Luke is trying to get his personal life in order, but can’t forget his first love.
Luke goes to New York to enlist Melody’s help in saving the town of Cupid from bankruptcy. The minute they see each other the old sparks fly. Melody has just been fired and dumped by her boyfriend so seeing Luke makes her feel better. After a night together and the return of old feelings, Luke asks Melody to come back home and help him save their town.
Melody’s family is from the Greenwood-Fant side of a local feud and Luke is from the Nielson side of the town feud. This feud is what broke Luke and Melody up years ago and it hasn’t ended. As Melody returns to Cupid, the old rumors start to surface and the feud is resurrected. Luke wants to make the town realize that laying the feud to rest is the way to save the town but no one is having it.
Melody is using her ad history to promote new tourist attractions to draw tourists and their money back to Cupid. Of course, bringing her suggestion of placing the letters to cupid on social media is not what Luke wants, but Melody has her own ideas on how to save the town.
I love this series about the cupid statue in a cave, the long history of the feud, and the stubborn residents of Cupid, Texas. This is another story to make you laugh, cry, and scream at the stupid people in love who are afraid to show it.
This book is dedicated to Lori Wilde’s pup, Daisy, who passed away when attacked by a big dog, while Lori was walking her on location in the Trans-Pecos. Sorry for your loss, Lori, and may Daisy rest in peace.
