Lying in Your Arms

Madison Reid’s engagement to movie star Tommy Shane is nothing more than a ruse to throw the paparazzi off the scent of the simple fact that he is gay.  Tommy’s decided it’s time to stop living a lie and end the engagement only rather than him coming out of the closet, Madison lets it ‘slip’ that she’s had a sordid affair – and the only way to escape the drama caused by the scandal is by escaping to a Costa Rican paradise for a little peace.  What she finds is so much more.

Chicago firefighter Leo Santori’s engagement ended when his fiancé cheated on him, but that isn’t going to stop him from enjoying his honeymoon –alone.  What he didn’t expect is the chain of events that led to him accidentally being booked into Madison’s room instead of his own.  The results are an unforgettable introduction that will leave them both in a state of frustrated desire – at least until they get to know each other a bit better.

By the time Madison arrives at the Costa Rican resort her body and mind are exhausted.  Finding a man in her room fresh from the shower is just too much for her to take and Madison ends up fainting.  The following morning Leo takes care of their villa situation with the management and everything is righted again their worlds – alibi separate rooms.  That is, until Madison decides to take a dip in her private pool, sans clothing, and midair spots a rather large snake slithering through the water.  Her scream of terror brought Leo running – and the two are practically inseparable for the entire rest of their stay.  Unfortunately reality is that their holiday will end and the real world will descend on them again.  How will Leo respond to the unbelievable relentlessness Madison’s subjected to by the paparazzi – especially considering he didn’t even know that she was engaged before or supposedly cheated on her actor fiancé?

Leslie Kelly’s LYING IN YOUR ARMS held my attention from beginning to end.  There honestly wasn’t a single thing about this story I didn’t like – from Madison’s paparazzi troubles, the romance between Madison and Leo, the exotic location, the snake in the pool situation, and even Madison’s friendship with Tommy I was completely enchanted.   They might be on holiday and expecting nothing more than a fling at first but it’s obvious as time progresses that there’s much more between them and I wondered what would happen when it came time to leave their little slice of heaven.  I’ve always found Ms. Kelly’s books to be passionate reads that contain emotional appeal as well – and LYING IN YOUR ARMS certainly delivers in that aspect admirably.
