Jeb Carter has lived his life on the rodeo circuit since high school but he’s getting older now and ready to settle down. He’s always regretted the break up with Claire and hated seeing her with Bob, even though he was glad that her husband was a good man who gave her all the love she deserved. Bob’s gone now and Jeb’s more than ready to step up and claim his woman – and make no mistake, Claire does belong to him – even if she isn’t quite ready to concede that point.
Claire needs far more than simply a foreman, she needs the companionship and love of a good man – and Jeb’s more than ready, willing and able to be just that man. The trouble is that while Claire relishes giving up control in the bedroom she’s afraid he’ll take over every aspect of her life. It doesn’t even seem to occur to her that he just wants to be a part of her life; he gave up on them once and isn’t willing to repeat that mistake again.
REKINDLED by Mari Carr is a fast paced read that pulls the reader in from the very first words. The characters are intense yet perfect for each other. Jeb’s love for Claire is evident in the way he takes it upon himself to help her with the simple things like dishes or making sure the hired hands are fed so she can get some well-deserved sleep. Of course the lovemaking between them is off the charts and makes you squirm a little but it’s also fun and imaginative which makes this story such a delight to read. I believe my favorite part of this story is the morning after scene – when Claire’s so busy trying to explain why them sleeping together is a bad idea and Jeb calmly reassures her that it was a very, very good idea. This story is so heart meltingly sweet yet smolderingly hot at the same time, it’s just a pleasure to sit back, read, and let your imagination run wild.
REKINDLED is a sequel to SPITFIRE but is written so that it can easily be read as a standalone. Of course, there’s no rule that says you can’t go ahead and indulge your need to pick up a copy of SPITFIRE as well.
