Avery's MAID TO CRAVE (MAN MAID, BOOK 2) was a playful book with a fun concept - men as maids, housekeepers, caretakers - that had some dark undercurrents but kept my interest from the first page to the last. The prologue set the stage and I didn't put the book down until I turned the last page and found the about the author page and knew that I reached the end. There was camaraderie between Rusty, Ronnie, Ian and Seth who all served together in the military. Zach, Tori's son, was endearing. An only child being raised by a single mom, no father figure plus difficulties reading and making friends could have made him sullen and depressed but Zach loved life especially being included in manly things with Seth, Caleb - Seth's brother, and all of Seth's friends. Watching Tori come into her own as a person, a friend and a hard worker was heartwarming. Seeing Seth morph into an even more caring person when it came to those outside of his family and close friends and include Tori and Zach was touching. Tim, Tori's boss, boyfriend and later fiancee gave off bad vibes throughout and his true measure was revealed to us little by little. There was laughter, tears, fear, happiness, playfulness, romance, love, coworkers, friends and family. There was a happily ever after in the offing but better closure was needed. An epilogue or at least a few more chapters would have been the whipped cream on the berries.
Avery is a new to me author and I will read the first book in the series - MAID TO FIT so I can find out how the friendships were forged and also read Ronnie and Kayla's story. I look forward to reading future books in the series. Currently this book is one of four in the Contemporary Romance Box Set Volume 2. Ninety days from when this set was first published, the box will be "broken" into four separate books, each one priced at $3.99. The other books in the set are: ALL I HAVE by Nicole Helm, THE LAST FIRST DATE by Maggie Wells and LIGHT MY FIRE by Kristina Knight. I can't wait to read them as well!
