It’s been six long months since Kira panicked and broke things off with her fiancé Michael over his interest in BDSM, but it’s his desire to live a Master/slave lifestyle that terrifies her – almost as much as it intrigues her. Since the break-up she’s done some research on the subject and knows it’s not BDSM that scares her, she’s afraid that she’ll become just a slave to Michael and everything she is, everything she’s fought so hard to obtain will disappear.
Michael regrets spending the last six months separated from Kira, especially since she hasn’t been taking care of herself the way she should, but all that’s about to change. He arranged for her best friend to set them up on a ‘blind date’ and while he knows Kira longs to flee from him he’s determined to claim her and confront her fears head on. He knows Kira’s reasons for running were valid in her own mind, but he also knows that the Master/slave relationship is not just a desire for him, it’s something she needs – a way to let go of her inhibitions and be free of all worries except him.
MASTER’S RUNAWAY is a fascinating read full of scorching intimate scenes, some soul searching and plenty of love. Michael and Kira obviously have an emotional connection but never really were honest with each other about what they truly expected in their relationship. For Kira it was easier to run than confront her fears, and Michael allowed her to get away with it for a little while but in the end, there’s always a price to pay for running away from your Master. Gail Starbright’s story focuses on Michael’s recapturing Kira and how he trains and pleasures her, but I would have liked to know how he deals with her concerns of losing herself. Is she allowed to keep her job, friends, or any aspect of her independence? Granted that’s a lot of ground to cover in a less than 100 page story but these are Kira’s concerns so it would have been nice to know how they’ll be addressed in their relationship.
