Aidan Flynn is a Seashell Bay born boy who left the island and went to play professional baseball. After fourteen years with only one trip back, for his mother's funeral, Aidan has come home to try and help his little brother. Aidan has been dropped by his team because of his bad knees and doesn't know what he will do now. A big development company wants to buy the Flynn property, but Aiden's land is right in the middle so he has to agree to sell his to make it happen.

Lily Doyle has been on the island her whole life and with the help of her grandfather has her own fishing boat with her lobster traps set off the coast. Lobster fishermen are usually male but Lily knew this is what she wanted to do when she was a child. Having her high school crush, Aidan, come back to the island is bittersweet for her. Lily is dead set against the development and knows Aidan is home to make a decision on his land as well. Lily's attraction to Aidan is still there and Aidan is surprised his feelings for Lily are just as strong as ever after fourteen years. Since Aidan wants to get to know the feelings of the citizens of the island towards the land development, he knows Lily is the best way to find out.

Aidan knows he is not back to stay on the island and is just waiting for a call from his agent. Lily doesn't want to get her heart broken again but she is unable to stay away from the boy, now a man, she has always loved.

This story is about island life and the disaster that big developments can be towards their ecosystem. It is about a boy who hated his life so he left to follow his dream, and then comes back a man who realizes all he loved about the island is still there waiting for his return. This is a novel of love lost, growing up and coming back to find a new life full of happiness. I loved the salty characters in this story along with getting to know a lobster fisherman's life. Sometimes we forget that there is a whole other world out there that we have no clue about. I recommend this book to all the land lovers who have the same amount of knowledge that I have about island life, which amounts to nothing. I give this book 4 Blue Ribbons on Romance Junkies' website because it is fun to find out about the places we have never been to while letting us dream about visiting some day.
