Duncan Hawthorne has plans to build an amusement park near the Sebring community where Merry lives. At first his primary concern is getting the go-ahead from the town commissioners but after meeting Merry he’s equally determined to get to know her much better. Duncan has a strong faith in the Lord and he’s sure if they put Him first then there could quite possibly be a future for them as a couple.
Duncan’s plans for an amusement park meet with some opposition but he doesn’t let that deter him from going ahead with the planning stages. He hires Merry to restore the antique carousel animals he’s planning to feature in the park and sets about dealing with all the other worries associated with the building of an amusement park. What he hadn’t expected was for there to be some worrisome threats and even a break in at Merry’s business to add to the things he needs to worry over.
While Merry and Duncan’s relationship blossoms into a romance conflicts arise that must be overcome – including Merry’s mistrust in Duncan’s intentions. Merry hasn’t had the best of luck with men in the past and she’s determined not to let history repeat itself. She’s sure that with prayer and a little trust and understanding Duncan might be the perfect man for her but letting go of her fears and uncertainties are extremely difficult.
Can you remember the awe you felt when you first laid eyes on a merry-go-round? If so, then you’ll adore Raynene Burgess’s in-depth details in all the work that goes into restoring these beautiful creations. One thing’s certain; you won’t view this beloved ‘child’s’ ride in quite the same light ever again. MERRY’S GO ROUND is a sweet inspirational romance with a touch of suspense that leaves readers feeling good about life in general – even when everything doesn’t go quite according to plan. The romance throughout this story is intense yet subtle and demonstrate the importance of putting God first in any relationship. Duncan and Merry are memorable and great fun to imagine but I have to admit as much as I enjoyed their interactions I was captivated by the mystery of what exactly was going on in the Sebring community and what kind of effect it would have on the plans for the park.
Raynene Burgess has written an entertaining tale that would have appeal for people of any faith – or anybody who simply believes in a more fundamental lifestyle.
