Steve Miller is a great cop and comes from a police background, he’s heard the stories of his father being racist, but because he loves him tries to forgive him for it.
Then he meets Sonja, a sexy and interesting woman that he definitely wants a serious relationship with, but Sonja is black and he knows they will run into some major problems considering how his father feels.
First off this is an interracial romance and the focus is on the race of the two lead characters.
I think this aspect is handled beautifully and in a very realistic way.
Steve is a very likeable character and a true testament to never judging a book by its cover.
He shows great admiration after being raised by a racist father, but not being racist himself.
Sonja is a fantastic character and her attitude is wonderful and refreshing.
I like the fact that she doesn’t let anyone deter her from seeing Steve.
This couple has a lot of adversity to overcome and it’s mostly from their own families, which can make the situation even more difficult.
After reading this story I felt revived hope that the world can be a better place if we work hard enough to make it that way.
This is the first book that I have read by GA Hauser and I will certainly be on the lookout for more of her books in the future.
